WELCOME TO THE ONYER MARKS SEA FISHING CHARTERS WEBSITE
We are delighted to announce that a new boat will be ready for the 2015 season!
The new Onyer Marks is a Smartliner Pilothouse 21, fitted with a 115 Tohatsu outboard. She will be licensed for 6 anglers.
Onyer Marks Sea Fishing Charters has been operating for over twenty five years from Luce Bay in South West Scotland.
Onyer Marks Too and Riptide are 19 ft Orkney Fastliners each carrying four anglers.
During the summer months we specialise in fishing for the small shark species like Tope, Bull Huss, Rays and Spurdog and light tackle Pollack fishing on the inshore reefs. Species hunts are also popular and often produce 20 species in a day. A growing market for us is “Pollack on the Fly” which produced fish of 9lb 10oz and 10lb 4 oz. for Scottish angler Alex Wilkie.
In the spring and autumn we move our operation and fish from Crinan for the giant common skate. The 2014 spring trip produced 29 skate over the magical 200 lb.
We have returned many Scottish records for species like tope, bull huss, smoothounds, pollack, bass and wrasse and returned a few British records for tope and bull huss. We will catch tope every week of the season from May to October. The biggest tope of the 2014 season was estimated at 80 pounds. Inside the site you will find information about the species we catch, the tackle and techniques required as well as information on local accommodation, how to find us etc.
Because of recent trends in social media the Onyer Marks Skipper’s Blog will now be shown on our Facebook page. Please note; you don’t have to be a member of Facebook to see these pages. Clicking on the “older posts” on the Facebook page (bottom of the page) will take you back to day by day catches and reports from as far back as June 2011. Please click on the Like button and you will automatically receive the latest updates. Thanks to our old pals at SRWD for the makeover!
